Battery and lead scrap buying

We buy used lead-acid batteries and lead scrap from suppliers and companies, and also retail. Acceptance is at our yard in Nakhabino. Below are today’s prices, standard deductions and requirements for each item.

In short

Batteries are accepted whole, with electrolyte drained and caps removed. Deduction on polypropylene and ebonite batteries is from 1% + actual, on batteries with electrolyte from 10%, on gel batteries 10%. Lead scrap is accepted from 0.5% to 1% + actual, wheel weights 30%.

Items are described under GOST R 54564-2025. The deduction is the percentage subtracted from the lot weight for impurities, moisture and foreign materials.

Standard deduction from 1% + actual
What qualifies
Whole lead-acid batteries in a polypropylene case.
Requirements
Electrolyte drained, caps removed, case punctured. No wooden or steel boxes.
Extra deductions
  • Filled with electrolyte as standard, from 10%.
  • Topped up with electrolyte, from 16%.

What qualifies
Whole lead-acid batteries in an ebonite case.
Requirements
Electrolyte drained, caps removed, do not puncture the case. No wooden or steel boxes.

  • Topped up with electrolyte, from 16%.

What qualifies
Lead cable sheathing.
Requirements
No other metals or alloys. Bitumen, paper and film incur an extra deduction.

What qualifies
Remelted battery lead of any shape.
Requirements
Lead content over 88%, antimony up to 6%.

What qualifies
Lead car wheel balance weights.
Requirements
Adhesive and clips are included in the deduction. Non-lead weights are not accepted.

Type metal

Standard deduction from 0.5% + actual
What qualifies
Lead printing type.
  • Where actual is added to the deduction, the actual contamination of the lot is added to the standard percentage.

General rules for non-ferrous scrap

  • If a lot mixes different items, the whole lot is accepted at the lowest of them.
  • Dirty material may incur an extra deduction for dirt.

FAQ

Do I need to drain the electrolyte?

Yes. Batteries are accepted whole, with electrolyte drained and caps removed. Batteries filled with electrolyte carry a deduction from 10%, topped-up ones from 16%.

How much do you pay for a battery?

It depends on the type: polypropylene case, ebonite, gel or UPS batteries. Current prices per 1 kg are in the table above and are updated with the price list.
